Think about a tree, how it take food, how it respire and try to compare it with your own body functions. You will find that there is totally different body functions between you and a tree.
Respiration, digestion, body growth are those actions which is not controlled by us and I think these actions can't be controlled by any other organism on this planet. But actions like movement of the body, speaking, thinking, etc are those actions which we control. Now try to compare these actions with a tree, you will find that these actions can't be done by a tree. It means they don't have a brain.
You may heard about Pitcher plant which eats insect by catching them in its hollow structure, when an insect come in its hollow structure then it suddenly close it. Now, can we say that they also have a brain or they have a computer program which runs when it sense any insect. When I observed a tree for a long time, like it's growth and body functions then I noticed one thing that they don't do anything without any external change. Let's talk about a sunflower, it always heads towards the sun, the reason behind it, is the concentration of water inside it's stem. Take another example of 'suction pressure' you may heard about this. This pressure helps plants to absorb water and minerals from the soil. So let discuses about it, when plant loose excess water from leaves through the process called "Transpiration" then this creates a pressure inside the stem (xylem) and this pressure helps the plant to absorb water from the soil. Similarly we can say that every action which is going inside a plant body is caused by any external cause. So can we say that plants don't wish to be alive? And it is the external actions which keeps it alive.
Plants like pitcher plant, touch me not, sunflower etc behaves like they have a brain. So, can we say that they have a brain? In my opinion they have brain but not very developed one. Or they have very old version of brain. Our brain contains millions of nerve cells (or neuron) it is very like new microcomputer which works with micro-processor while plants have very old brain like 1948 computers which works with transistors.
Come on the topic all the functions which is going inside a plant is result of external cause, there is no wish of plants to do anything. Directly we can say that they don't have consciousness, they totally controlled by the natural incidence. But human beings are able to control their body according to him, they can wish for something and make something happened or they have consciousness. So, can we say that consciousness comes with a developed brain (brain having lots of neuron). But if it is true then why don't latest computers have consciousness?
