My experience of Sleep Paralysis

My experience of Sleep Paralysis

Last night I had suffered from an episode of sleeping paralysis and that was really very terrifying for me. I was not able to sleep for next two hours after suffering from it. When I went for sleep at 11:00 PM, I think after 10 to 15 minutes later I suffered from it. I am going to tell you about my experience during the sleeping paralysis

I was able to see the ceiling of my room, rotating fan, shadow of the fan which was projected on the wall and I was also able to hear the sound of the fan. But I can not able to move my legs, hands, finger, even I can't able to move my eyes. I was trying to shout loud, to anyone come and make me awake. At that time I am confused that I am dreaming or awake.
Suddenly I saw with my eyesight that there is something moving, looking like a strange blue bird on the tree which is next to my room window. I knew there is not any terrifying thing but I feel a strange fear. I tried to look over there, but I can't able to move my vision over there. With a great troubling I look over there with my eyesight but there is nothing. Then I tried to move my head up and little bit I was able to do, but my head starts trembling. I think, my head is not trembling in actual but that is may be in my dream. At the end of my sleeping paralysis, I contribute that I was dreaming inside my dream means I was sleeping and facing sleeping paralysis inside my dream. I know it is confusing, actually I am also confused to say that it was a single dream or dream inside a dream. But I think it was dream inside my dream in which I was suffering with sleeping paralysis. I think this goes upto 2 minutes and this was second suffering of my life with sleeping paralysis. I have it once, when I was 10 years old. First time I was really afraid, I it is sign of paralysis or other disorder, but when I asked with my family members then they told me that it is common and everyone suffer with it.

What is the reason for suffering with sleeping paralysis.

The main reason for causing sleeping paralysis is not known, but it found likely that instance of sleep paralysis occur because of difficulty transitioning between different sleep stages, particularly moving in and out of REM sleep. During REM stage of sleep, our body goes into a state of paralysis called REM atonia. REM atonia protect the body from injury during sleep because without this, our body might act out physically in response to our dreams. This is a normal part of the sleep stage, when major muscles and most of the voluntary muscles are paralyzed. In REM stage of sleeping we dream (used as verb) much active dreams. In certain sleep disorder, the normal REM paralysis does not work as it should, some times aggressively and voilently in sleep.
Sleep scientists believe that sleep paralysis may occur when the transition in and out of REM sleep and other sleep stages did not goes smoothly.

Sometimes peoples also describe feeling like ghost presence in the room with them as well as feeling of strange elements. These hallucinations can includes sometimes strange sound, feel like something touching you and even sometimes smells. Peoples also describe sensation of falling or flying. Sleeping paralysis does not affect the mechanisms of breathing but often, peoples describe that they feel breathless or a high pressure on their chest.
If you have faced sleep paralysis means you know how bad experience it is. And you are not alone who have faced this.

New research investigates possible factors that contribute to sleep paralysis - and the results indicates towards the genetics may play a significant role. Scientists still doing researches and finding lots of information about it. In United Kingdom scientists examined the role of heredity in sleep paralysis among a group of 862 twins and siblings. New research also suggesting family links to sleep paralysis, it indicates stress, anxiety, depression and trauma.

It is very rare in peoples to suffer sleeping paralysis but sometimes peoples also describe the frequent suffering with it.
